The Southeast's Premier
and Lymphedema Clinic

About our clinic

H.O.P.E. helps those touched by physical impairments from injury, disease, or the natural aging process to Thrive Beyond Surviving.

We provide general rehab services with a kind and caring focus and individual, one-on-one treatment at every visit. Our therapists see 8-10 patients per day max – unlike in other practices where managing 12-18 patients per day is the norm.

That means no long wait times and no rushed visits. See Our Services here.

We partner with you and your doctor on your journey to your best physical health.

Expect one-on-one attention and care in a modern facility, with a dedicated lymphedema clinic, that lets you do more of the things you love on a daily basis–helping you to achieve a much-improved “new normal.”

We further specialize in helping those whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Here to help

Here at H.O.P.E. Life Center, we bridge the gap between medical and physical health care. We want to help you THRIVE so you can once  again enjoy your favorite activities without pain or fear.

Are You Ready To Thrive?

Let our rehabilitation and lymphedema clinic help you achieve maximum health.

H.O.P.E. Life Lymphedema and Rehabilitation Center offers general rehabilitation and physical therapy, with a focus on oncology physical therapy and lymphedema treatment in the Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and Okatie, SC areas. Our goal is to maximize your independence, mobility, and health in a compassionate and warm environment. We offer general rehabilitation therapy for those recovering from surgery, illness, or injury, as well as specialized cancer physical therapy and a lymphedema clinic.

Restorative Therapy can maximize your movement and independence using a combination of manual treatments and specialized equipment.

Balance & Gait

Balance issues? We can help: Vertigo/Vestibular Therapy, Balance Restoration, Gait Improvement, and Strength Training.

Experiencing swelling? Our lymphedema clinic can help with lymphatic drainage, skin care, and therapies that decrease swelling.

Scar Densensitization

Our therapists can help decrease your pain level and diminish scar tissue. We can also work to prevent further scar tissue formation.

Prehabilitation Therapy

Risk Reduction is dedicated to maximizing your baseline health prior to upcoming treatments, so you can decrease recovery time and reduce the potential for injury.

Post Surgery Rehab

Let's increase range of motion, improve strength, desensitize scars, and prevent lymphedema. We'll also work on functional retraining and fascial adhesion release.

During/After Chemo/Radiation

Maintain your functional independence through retraining, energy conservation training, pain management, and fatigue prevention.

After Cancer Treatment

Restore your health and diminish risk factors for recurrence. We use Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (CDP) and Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT).

Our Inspiration

Is Personal

For Dennis Ittenbach, H.O.P.E.’s founder, it’s personal.

His wife is a 20+ year recurrent metastatic cancer survivor. As he helped her thrive with her recovery, Dennis found himself continually frustrated with the medical community’s focus on survivors’ medical health – while ignoring the impairments incurred to her physical health.

Most people measure quality of life as the ability to do the things you need and want to do, independently and without the assistance of others.

Too often, those touched by cancer or other illnesses or injuries settle for a lower quality of life than they need to, because they think there's no other choice.

There is another choice.

Until now, there’s never been a facility to bridge the gap by offering services dedicated to improving people’s physical health.

H.O.P.E. Life Lymphedema and Rehabilitation Center creates that bridge by offering physical therapy services dedicated to improving people’s whole body physical health.

Achieve A Better "Normal"

But you don't have to take our word for it. Our clients' results speak for themselves.
